The application is free of charge and of use and it is possible to download it from the Apple App Store. iBooks Author lets anyone with a Mac create stunning iBooks textbooks, cookbooks, history books, picture books and more, and publish them to Apple’s iBookstore. Authors and publishers of any size can start creating with Apple-designed templates that feature a wide variety of page layouts. iBooks Author lets you add your own text and images by simply dragging and dropping, and with the Multi-Touch widgets you can easily add interactive photo galleries, movies, Keynote presentations and 3D objects.</p>

<a href="http://www.apple.com/support/ibooksauthor/" target="_blank"> iBooks Author</a> è disponibile da oggi come download gratuito sul Mac App Store: chiunque abbia un Mac (NB: con Mac OS 10.7) potrà creare fantastici libri di testo iBooks, ma anche libri di cucina, racconti, fotostorie e tanto altro, e pubblicarli sull’iBookstore di Apple. Autori ed editori di qualsiasi dimensione potranno iniziare a creare libri partendo da uno dei modelli progettati da Apple, sfruttandone l’ampia varietà di layout di pagina offerti. iBooks Author ti permette di aggiungere le tue immagini e i tuoi testi semplicemente trascinandoli, e con i widget Multi-Touch si possono aggiungere anche gallerie fotografiche, filmati, presentazioni Keynote e oggetti 3D. Apple ha annunciato in questi giorni anche iBooks 2 per iPad, con i libri di testo iBooks, una tipologia completamente nuova di libri di testo dinamici, coinvolgenti e davvero interattivi. I libri di testo iBooks offrono agli utenti iPad libri di testo fantastici a schermo pieno, completi di animazioni interattive, diagrammi, foto, video, una facilità senza pari nella navigazione e tanto altro. I libri di testo iBooks possono essere aggiornati regolarmente, non pesano nello zaino e non vanno restituiti alla biblioteca.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align:justify;">In this post I just copy (I state it very clearly) part of the FAQs appearing in the official blog and website of <a href="http://www.so.cl/" target="_blank">So.cl</a>, that I discovered by chance today. <a href="http://www.so.cl/" target="_blank">So.cl</a> (pronounced &#8220;social&#8221;) is an experimental research project, developed by Microsoft’s FUSE Labs, focused on exploring the possibilities of social search for the purpose of learning.</p>
<ul>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><a href="http://www.so.cl/" target="_blank">So.cl</a> combines social networking and search, to help people find and share interesting web pages in the way students do when they work together.</li>
<li style="text-align:justify;">So.cl helps you create rich posts, by assembling montages of visual web content.</li>
<li style="text-align:justify;">To encourage interaction and collaboration, So.cl provides rich media sharing, and real time sharing of videos via &#8220;video parties.</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Apart from Microsoft FUSE Labs, there are some other partners of So.cl, in particular selected schools (including University of Washington, Syracuse University, and New York University).<br />
The <a href="http://www.so.cl/" target="_blank">So.cl search</a> experience is powered by Bing; we use the public Bing APIs to display search result data. As students work together, they often look for the same content, and discover new shared interests by sharing results. These results can be web pages, images, or videos found through Bing. We see this trend today on many social networks, such as Twitter, where shared links spread virally and amplify popular content. So.cl experiments with this concept by letting you easily share links as you search. Unless you mark it as &#8220;private&#8221;, your search results, and any other data you post to So.cl may be viewed by all other So.cl users. It is notable to say that there are options to delete the search, ranging from deleting a single item, search or post, to deleting all your history, or your entire account. Finally, we can access So.cl through our Facebook account and as <a href="http://www.so.cl/" target="_blank">So.cl</a> uses Facebook authentication, which means you use your Facebook account to log in, and your name and profile picture from Facebook appear in So.cl.</p>

Oggi ho casualmente scoperto <a href="http://www.So.cl/" target="_blank">So.cl</a>, un progetto supportato da Microsoft FUSE Labs (e da molti altri qualificati partner, tra cui l&#8217;University of Washington, Syracuse University, e la New York University), cui si accede gratuitamente con il proprio account Facebook. So.cl è dedicato alla ricerca per l&#8217;apprendimento con un &#8220;taglio sociale&#8221;:</p>
<ul>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><a href="http://www.so.cl/" target="_blank">So.cl</a> combina la rete sociale e la ricerca, con l&#8217;intento di aiutare gli utenti a trovare e condividere pagine web interessanti, in modo tale che gli student lavorino insieme;</li>
<li style="text-align:justify;">L&#8217;intendimento di So.cl è di permettere agli utenti di creare post &#8220;ricchi&#8221;, cioè attraverso l&#8217;assemblaggio e montaggio di contenuto web visivo;</li>
<li style="text-align:justify;">Si vuole pure incoraggiare l&#8217;interazione e la collaborazione, quindi So.cl fornisce la possibilità di condividere contenuti mediatici complessi, video, stabilire dei &#8220;video parties&#8221;, ovvero video-conferenze articolate.</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align:justify;">Il potenziale didattico di <a href="http://www.so.cl" target="_blank">So.cl</a> è ragguardevole, poiché punta a un mezzo comunicativo che capitalizza notevole attenzione in tutte le fasce d&#8217;età, cioè l&#8217;apprendimento visivo, e sottolinea l&#8217;importanza della socialità come elemento principale del processo di apprendimento, nell&#8217;ottica di una vicendevole attenzione: i partner della ricerca sociale contribuiscono a turno e verificano i propri apporti, verificano la qualità degli stessi, secondo il principio che in inglese va sotto il nome di <em>peer learning</em> (&#8220;apprendimento fra pari&#8221;).</div>

The key feature is that when you write, you have at your fingertips everything you&#8217;ve gathered for your writings. You don&#8217;t have to worry anymore that your ideas and sources of inspiration are lost or scattered in different places.<br />
It is possible to write and to annotate texts, pictures and diagrams online and save for future uses. <a href="http://shelfster.com/index/downloads-desktop" target="_blank">Shelfster Desktop Tool</a> exists in various formats (Windows and Mac), but also for <a href="http://shelfster.com/index/downloads-mobile" target="_blank">mobile devices</a> (such as the iPhone and the iPad), and is a research and writing tool that allows you to quickly capture snippets of information from the web or from documents on your computer and write articles. All content can be organized using titles, tags or annotations, saved to specific project and stored in your online account.<br />
<a href="http://shelfster.com/" target="_blank">Shelfster</a>&#8216;s FREE Online Application &#8211; on the left you can find all items you&#8217;ve gathered before. You can hide this panel, or you can drag&amp;drop text and images from your items directly into the online text editor located on the right side. Once you&#8217;ve finished writing your document you can print it or export in HTML or PDF. Just to bear in mind, once again, through Shelfster it is possible to write as if we used a full operative Word Editor.</p>

Oggi ho scoperto <a href="http://shelfster.com/" target="_blank">Shelfster</a> (letteralmente: il sistematore sugli scaffali), applicazione online, ma anche scaricabile sul proprio computer, dispositivo mobile e come plugin del browser internet, che permette di scrivere liberamente, annotare e/o memorizzare testi, fotografie, e altro. Per la precisione, con Shelfster è <span style="text-decoration:underline;">possibile scrivere come con un elaboratore di testi vero e proprio</span>. Come molte applicazioni simili, anche <a href="http://shelfster.com/" target="_blank">Shelfster</a> è <span style="text-decoration:underline;">gratuita</span> e richiede la sola creazione del proprio account utente, per poter poi operare liberamente. Il potenziale didattico di Shelfster è grandemente adatto per tutte le ricerche che i nostri studenti dovessero fare in classe e in laboratorio, senza dover abbandonare i percorsi svolti tramite Internet e sempre sotto la guida del docente.<br />
Al momento <a href="http://shelfster.com/" target="_blank">Shelfster</a> è in lingua inglese, è tuttavia assai versatile e disponibile per l&#8217;<a href="http://shelfster.com/index/downloads-desktop" target="_blank">uso <em>off-line</em> sul proprio computer</a> (sia in versione Windows che Mac OS X) che su <a href="http://shelfster.com/index/downloads-mobile" target="_blank">dispositivo mobile</a> (iPhone e iPad): pare che a breve possa arrivare pure la versione per Android. Inoltre, è possibile sfruttare il <a href="http://shelfster.com/index/downloads-browser" target="_blank">plugin per tutti i browser </a>Internet diffusi (Windows Explorer, Apple Safari, Opera, Mozilla Firefox, nonché Chrome).</p>

It will enable sentence-level critique of written words combined with a sophisticated yet easy-to-use model of community peer-review. It will work as an overlay on top of any stable content, including news, blogs, scientific articles, books, terms of service, ballot initiatives, legislation and regulations, software code and more-without requiring participation of the underlying site.<br />
It is based on a new draft standard for annotating digital documents currently being developed by the <a href="http://openannotation.org/">Open Annotation Collaboration</a>, a consortium that includes the Internet Archive, NISO (National Information Standards Organization), O&#8217;Reilly Books, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and a number of academic institutions. Hypothes.is si presenta come un sistema che consente di sottoporre tutti i contenuti del web a un controllo incrociato analogo a quello che le grandi riviste scientifiche impongono agli articoli  prima della pubblicazione. <a href="http://goo.gl/yZm4s" target="_blank">Hypothes.is</a> è un prototipo messo a punto da una équipe coordinata da <a href="http://www.linkedin.com/in/danwhaley">Dan Whaley</a>, esperto di motori di ricerca e attivista ecologista. Il progetto, finanziato anche attraverso il crowdfunding, ha già raccolto fondi per 240.000 dollari e dovrebbe entrare in funzione all’  inizio del 2012. ‘’Pensiamo che una serie di strumenti relativamente semplici ci possano aiutare ad accrescere la qualità dell’ informazione su internet e, per estensione, a tutto il mondo che ci circonda’’, come spiega il <a href="http://hypothes.is/index.html" target="_blank">sito</a>. Hypothes.is sarà una piattaforma open-source per una valutazione collaborativa dell’ informazione. Consentirà una critica a livello delle singole frasi scritte combinata con un sofisticato ma semplice modello di peer-review (<a href="http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revisione_paritaria">revisione paritaria</a>) a livello di comunità di esperti. <a href="http://hypothes.is/index.html" target="_blank">Hypothes.is</a> funzionerà come un filtro di controllo per ogni tipo di contenuto: notizie, blog, articoli scientifici, libri, istruzioni di servizio, programmi elettorali, leggi e regolamenti, codici software e oltre. Senza che sia necessario l’ intervento dei rispettivi siti web. Il meccanismo – spiega Hypothes.is – è basato su un nuova versione del sistema di annotazione dei documenti digitali che sta sviluppando la <a href="http://openannotation.org/">Open Annotation Collaboration</a>, un consorzio che include l’ Internet Archive, NISO (National Information Standards Organization), O’Reilly Books, Amazon, Barnes and Noble e varie istituzioni accademiche.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align:justify;">Oggi un&#8217;altra segnalazione va a <a href="http://nabbber.com/" target="_blank">Nabbber</a>, una comunità online dedicata all&#8217;apprendimento delle lingue straniere e per lo scambio lessicale. Quanto ciò possa essere efficace rimane da vedere, specie se lo si considera più di quanto sia in realtà, ovvero un semplice strumento per lo scambio di parole straniere e la loro corrispondenza.<br />
Da insegnante di lingua (Inglese), penso che un&#8217;iniziativa come <a href="http://nabbber.com/" target="_blank">Nabbber</a> sia da prendere con relativa attenzione, inquadrarla come un semplice strumento, non certo come azione risolutiva, perché nessun apprendimento automatizzato riuscirà a evidenziare un fatto: l&#8217;<span style="text-decoration:underline;">apprendimento linguistico è un fatto sociale e  l&#8217;uso della lingua (<em>usage</em>, in inglese) lo costruisce la contestualizzazione</span>, cosa che difficilmente un terminale informatico potrebbe. Tutto qua.<br />

So How It Works? Nabbber lets you share words you learned, read what other learned. That&#8217;s it and Nabbber claims to be &#8220;really simple&#8221; and it has just 2 things to do</p>

<li>When you learn a new word (from a book or a movie) you share it on Nabbber.</li>
<li>Follow people with similar interests. Their words will appear on your home page.</li>

Academics upload their papers to share them with other academics in over 100,000 research areas. They can also follow other academics, and see new papers and other research updates from those academics in their News Feeds.<br />
Academics can register (for free) themselves and their institution, upload a number of documents: a CV, a paper, information, keywords to be indexed and searched through engines, and so on. It is also possible to connect <a href="http://www.academia.edu/" target="_blank">Academia</a> to the personal Facebook page or to the institution&#8217;s (or group) page as well. In addition, the user can edit the personal page andadd an affiliation from there, including multiple ones.</p>

<p>La comunità<span style="color:#000000;">.</span> Nel 2004 un gruppo di ragazzi si incontra in un forum online di tecnologia. Ad uno mancano i soldi per iscriversi a un corso di programmazione in una scuola milanese, un altro non vede l&#8217;ora di insegnare a usare programmi di fotoritocco, un terzo è esperto di sistemi Linux, l&#8217;ultimo crea siti web. E allora decidono di farsi da soli una <span style="text-decoration:underline;">scuola non convenzionale in cui ognuno, semplicemente, può raccontare quello che sa a chi lo vuol star ad ascoltare</span>. <span style="color:#ff00ff;">La comunità è composta</span> da migliaia di utenti di tutte le età decisi a condividere le proprie conoscenze e imparare dalle esperienze altrui sfruttando le tecnologie più dinamiche. I docenti di una lezione sono anche gli studenti di un&#8217;altra: non c&#8217;è netta distinzione tra chi insegna e chi impara. Chiunque può rivolgere domande in diretta web e votare quelle altrui. Oggi gli insegnanti hanno dai 14 ai 75 anni. A volte sono perfetti sconosciuti, a volte sono intellettuali, imprenditori, esponenti politici, scrittori o scienziati. Is Italian-based version of Wikipedia on the verge of closing because of a proposed bill by Mr. Berlusconi&#8217;s government against the excessive use of judicial tapings?
