I have always been fond of Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital. Many years ago I spent some months studying ESL and training in teaching at the local university and I have among the best memories.
Reading the 2010 programme of the annual Edinburgh Festival, especially that of the Edinburgh Book Festival, I came across what seems a very interesting classroom resource, 
Spinebreakers.co.uk. Spinebreakers is Penguin’s pioneering online book community for teenagers, run by teenagers themselves. Editorial control of the site is in the hands of a core editorial team of nine teenagers aged between 13 and 18 years, supported by a large network of contributing teen editors from across the UK.
At Spinebreakers working with journalists, authors, editors and web designers, the teen team will produce a wide variety of multi-media content including video and audio reviews, alternative book jackets and endings, soundtracks, author interviews, podcasts, blogs, short stories and much more.

Sono abbastanza affezionato alla capitale scozzese Edimburgo. Ho trascorso a Edimburgo qualche mese studiando alla locale università e specializzandomi in insegnamento d’inglese per stranieri e didattica generale. Dalla Scozia ho pure fra i ricordi di vita più belli, ecco perché leggo sempre con piacere e attenzione il programma 2010 dell’International Edinburgh Festival, che si aprirà il 14 Agosto prossimo.
Fra le varie attività è meritorio l’Edinburgh Book Festival e le sue risorse didattiche, Classroom Activities. Tra le risorse didattiche c’è Spinebreakers, a opera della Penguin Books. Spinebreakers è una community online per adolescenti dedicata ai libri e alla lettura e gestita dagli stessi adolescenti. Il controllo e la cura editoriali del sito web sono preoccupazione di una squadra di giovani dai 13 ai 18, supportati da una rete di ulteriori contributori giovani da tutta la Gran Bretagna.
