I confess I have learnt how to pronounce some English phrases by watching Disney’s Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse cartoons when I was a young guy fussing around. Today there is a lot available animation on demand, easy to find and re-use. Then, if we need to explain something to many people a product, a service, a procedure, an application, a change, a concept, what happens? We can turn it into an animated explanation. In Explania animation is a powerful technique to explain things step-by-step, and it keeps the attention of the user, as exactly as it kept mine between 9-14. Animated explanations can be animated movies, interactive tutorials or instructional videos, in an attractive format that fits our organization and in any language you like.
Video is motion. So is animation. Banners are animations and catch the attention because they contain moving objects. In the same way, animation, as in Explania, can be an interesting technique for online learning, when properly used. Furthermore, animation is based on graphics, which, as opposed to video, can be very useful for learning purposes because they help to simplify complex subjects.
