Posterous Groups: Connecting Everyone-where/ Connessione continua

Some weeks ago I received a notice from Google which hosted 2 groups of mine warning that Big G would have given up with the service and invited me to transfer all the material elsewhere. Online groups may be a smart instrument to connect students, teachers, learners of all ages, even without continuously updating a blog or a wiki. Thus, today I discovered Posterous Groups, a way to communicate with our students, colleagues, family and friends, then Posterous Groups may be the next evolution in email communication.

Messages and attachments submitted to the group will be emailed to everyone in the group. Send any type of file to your group and Posterous will convert it to the most web-friendly format available. Photos will be sent to your group members inline, and if you send multiple photos, Posterous will automatically create a photo gallery for you. Submit a YouTube URL to the group and Posterous will grab the embed code and automatically embed it in your site. Email replies can include photos, videos or any other rich media and will be automatically shared with the rest of the group via email and stored on the group website.

Qualche settimana fa ho ricevuto una mail da parte di Big G(oogle) in cui mi si avvertiva che il servizio di Google Groups sarebbe stato a breve abolito o sospeso, con la conseguente necessità di traslocare tutto il materiale contenuto altrove. Avendo io creato 2 gruppi negli anni precedenti (ma non troppo utilizzati, per dire il vero), mi sono guardato attorno per cercare possibili alternative e oggi ho scoperto un servizio di Posterous, che già apprezzo per altri versi come strumento di condivisione. Ecco dunque Posterous Groups.
Con Posterous Groups, i messaggi e gli allegati saranno spediti a ciascun membro del gruppo in questione per attraverso la posta elettronica. E’ possibile spedire qualsiasi tipo di file perché Posterous li convertirà in formati più diffusi (geniale!), così come foto (anche multiple) perché sempre Posterous creerà una “Photo-gallery”. E’ possibile spedire anche i video (un Url di YouTube, per esempio): questo indirizzo del video sarà incorporato automaticamente nel sito. Se tutto avviene tramite email, anche le risposte possono includere foto, video o qualsiasi altro “rich media” (“media arricchito”, elaborato) e saranno condivise automativamente con il resto dei membri del gruppo. Non male, non male proprio.
